| What is coaching? Coaching helps writers to face and change the things that keep them from working at their optimum level. Coaching offers organizational tools and systems for changing behaviors and environments that don't support or may actively undermine your values and your success. The wonderful thing about coaching is that it's not psychotherapy, though its effects are often therapeutic. Coaching doesn't analyze the intricate why's and wherefore's. Instead, it gets right to work on behaviors and environments. Coaching helps people --to focus on the issues that block effectiveness or creativity in any arena--work, home, community or personal growth--that affects your ability to achieve your writing goals --to recognize the preoccupations that interfere with concentration, --to zero in on attitudes that are self-sabotaging, --to identify the ineffective habits that perpetuate cycles of frustration or low energy. What is a coach? A coach is a personal facilitator, mentor, cheerleader, truth-sayer. Coaching is a mixture of encouragement, guidance, strategic planning, and accountability. A coach helps you to establish realistic goals and expectations and supports you as you meet them. A coach gives useful feedback at every step, and insightful support for the processes of change and achievement. A coach is there to hold you accountable for taking the steps you yourself identify will bring you pleasure, satisfaction and accomplishment.
