Hiring an editor is like taking a remedy for the flu--you might eventually improve without it. But you can save yourself weeks and months of struggle or misery. It's worth it! We always bill by the minute. It's to your advantage--you will be charged ONLY for the time actually spent on your manuscript, since we measure in such small increments. There is no charge for an initial consultation by phone, or for first-class postage on your return manuscript. Terms Deposit With the first manuscript segment you send, you make an initial deposit of $160 by check or credit card to open your account. If you work with us beyond the 2-hour Trial Editing, and wish to be billed each time a manuscript is returned to you, we ask that you file a credit card with us. (You may continue to pay each invoice by check or by credit card.) It will only be used with your permission and knowledge when you request it or should you neglect to keep your account current. Editing work will only be undertaken for clients whose accounts are up to date. "Turn-Around" Times The time it takes to edit and return your memoir manuscript varies due to the length of each segment you send the number of changes/suggestions the kind and complexity of changes or issues you ask your editor to address. Generally, 30 pages can be edited and returned within a week of receipt. Mailing time is, of course, additional. Our Pledge Our pledge to you is unequivocal: We will establish a supportive and professional editorial relationship with you, working with you to set appropriate goals for your manuscript-in-progress and for its future. Your manuscripts will be returned to you in a timely fashion. We will never guarantee you financial success from your writing or bestseller status for your manuscript.
